About Us

Leeds Swahili Cultural Community (LSCC)

Leeds Swahili Cultural Community (LSCC) was established in 2004 to serve as a cultural forum for Swahili‑speaking migrants and their families in Leeds and surrounding areas. With roots in the Swahili diaspora, the organisation now supports a wide range of ethnic communities through both religious and secular education.

LSCC’s mission is to promote sustainable community development by empowering local families through education. They operate the LSCC Learning Centre, offering after-school and weekend classes for children aged 5–18. These include core subjects—Maths, English, Science, and Religious Education—as well as cultural and personal development activities .

Through these programs, LSCC aims to foster academic achievement, cultural pride, and successful integration into multicultural British society. They also encourage skills like teamwork, communication, and confidence as part of their inclusive curriculum .

Together, we are shaping a community that values inclusivity, creativity, and a commitment to a healthy, active lifestyle.”
